UPDATE: Last night, Nugget was pretty despondent,

UPDATE: Last night, Nugget was pretty despondent, practically catatonic. Today, at the vet, he was acting more like himself. Because of this, it didn't feel right to put him down immediately. His prognosis hasn't changed, but we figured it would be better for him to live out his remaining days at home. This is still one of the hardest experiences of my life (coupled with one of the other hardest, ongoing experiences of my life). There doesn't seem to be much chance of saving him, but at least he gets to snuggle with his mom, Sabrina, a bit more. Thank you to everyone with kind words and a kind heart. I'm not up for talking at this time, but your love is seen, heard, and felt. Thank you. 💔

Original : I'm losing my perfect boy...his condition has worsened and it'd be $4k just to *try* to improve it...with no guarantees and a high chance it'll reoccur...prolonging his suffering. So, we are saying goodbye today. My heart is shattering. I don't think I'm strong enough for this. He's my baby. I love him so fucking much. He's only 3 years old...barely that. He was born right here in my apartment. He is the most perfect creature. This isn't fair. I hate everything right now. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Had to bring Nugget home because we can't yet afford for him to stay another night, even though they *strongly recommended* it. So, he's going in for bloodwork tomorrow and Friday, has been given special foods, and needs to take 3 different meds. If the bloodwork isn't great tomorrow, he'll need to spend another night regardless.

For now, all donations for him have been set aside or left in those other accounts until needed. We are not fully safe yet, he's still not eating anything...please continue to send love and well-wishes both for him and for my mom.

And if you're able, please continue to make offerings for their health. Thank you again, everyone. There are truly no words to express my levels of gratitude. I have so much faith in humanity thanks to kind hearts like yours. I love you all.

It's like the rain keeps coming. Please offer what you can for Nugget. He is in the hospital as I type this, and he's been there since yesterday. He's never been away from his mom or brother this long and all we want is to get him treated tonight and bring him home tomorrow.

But for them to keep him, they're charging around $1060. We are applying for a credit-based payment plan, but this is very urgent. Intuition is such a gift. On a whim, I attended the public screening of Scab Vendor, a documentary honoring the legendary @jonathanshawworks . And I do mean LEGEND. Before seeing the documentary, there wasn't a clue in my mind that I was in the presence of history (though, it should have been...this is New York; we're always in the presence of history). To say he has lived a storied life feels cliché.

Being socially...odd...I'm not sure my words to you could truly convey the impact of seeing a glimpse into that life (and how fascinating it has been), nor could I accurately express how magical it is that you, sir, a total stranger, had been in my life via your work for so many years. It's a reminder to me of how small the world truly is, how we beautiful souls are all somehow connected, even by the smallest of threads. We are all such magnificent creatures...we all hurt and suffer and bleed. I hope we all laugh, love, and find endless reasons to smile, too.

It may surprise folks to know that this little agoraphobic weirdo absolutely adores humanity. I know we all have darkness, and sometimes that darkness feels overwhelming. I am often overwhelmed. But, like most things in life, darkness exists in a cycle...it can only exist, or only be known, if there is light to contrast it. And I believe humanity can access that light...this documentary was another reminder of that. Even on an individual scale, at our darkest, we'll find light if we never stop searching for it. And it is so beautiful to see.

That's it. I love you, folks, friends, and various religious factions. I love your mere existence and I hope you have many pleasant moments. Drink water. Eat well. Sleep. Be good to yourselves and others. 💋

I came across Josephine Baker in late high school/freshman year of college and loved her at first sight. I don't watch a lot of documentaries these days, but I'll always watch anything on Josephine. She was such a bright, special soul and I'm just honored I got to walk on the same ground that she did.
